The 9.11 Promise is a journey of remembrance and honor while also providing an opportunity to help the children of those who have sacrificed for our communities and country. The journey begins at the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial and individuals will have a choice to run to Ground Zero or to bike to Shanksville, PA.

Three Ways to Join

The 9.11 Promise Run

The 9/11 Promise Run route guarantees that you will see sites you typically do not have the opportunity to experience… it’s like a step back in time running through our country’s history and roots.

Your journey will take you by monuments in Washington D.C., the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, down Broad Street to City Hall in Philadelphia, and a beautiful run along the Hudson River before we end our journey at the 9/11 Memorial in New York. You will experience the blue collar neighborhoods that built the North East, ports and harbors that deliver cargo essential to our livelihood and the refineries around Philadelphia where you can channel the spirit of ‘Rocky’! Let’s not forget the farmlands and college towns like the University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins, Princeton and Rutgers.

The 9.11 Promise Bike

The 9/11 Promise Bike is a challenging two-day relay road bike ride from the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. to Bedford, PA, just a few miles from the Flight 93 Memorial., all to benefit the 9/11 Promise Scholarship Fund. Our purpose is to honor and remember the courage and heroism the passengers and crew of United Flight 93 showed on September 11, 2001, and the sacrifices made by first responders and our military in the days, months, and years after. Our journey will culminate with the ceremony at the United 93 Memorial commemorating the 19th anniversary of those events.

The Virtual 9.11 Promise Run/Bike

Can't make it to D.C.? Join the run or bike from the streets of your hometown or workout gear in your gym as a virtual athlete.

Virtual Athletes promise that you will run, walk, and/or bike 9.11 miles sometime between September 9th and September 11th! These miles can be done all at once or spread out over the course of the three days.

As a Virtual Athlete supporting the student of our Promise, each participant commits to raising $150 by October 1, 2023. If the amount isn't reached, participants agree to cover the remaining amount.
