The 9.11 Promise is a journey of remembrance and honor while also providing an opportunity to help the children of those who have sacrificed for our communities and country. Most years, the journey begins at the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial and individuals will have a choice to run to Ground Zero or to bike to Shanksville, PA.

For 2024, to make the event accessible to all, we’ll be running a 9.11 mile relay in Wilmington, North Carolina, in addition to the return of the popular virtual option!

Two Ways to Join

The 9.11 Promise Run

The 9/11 Promise Run route in beautiful historic Wilmington, NC is like a step back in time running through our country’s history and roots.

The 9.11 mile relay will take you through the famous Port City, alongside fellow champions as we take the weekend to recognize and honor, while propelling the next generation forward.

The Virtual 9.11 Promise Run/Bike

Can't make it to Wilmington? Join the run or bike from the streets of your hometown or workout gear in your gym as a virtual athlete.

Virtual Athletes promise that you will run, walk, and/or bike 9.11 miles sometime between September 9th and September 11th! These miles can be done all at once or spread out over the course of the three days.

As a Virtual Athlete supporting the student of our Promise, each participant commits to raising $150 by October 1, 2024. If the amount isn't reached, participants agree to cover the remaining amount.
